My name is Christer Noor, and I make custom wooden furniture built to last a lifetime
I’ve been working with furniture for over 25 years beginning with restoration and later focusing on fine woodworking and bespoke wooden furniture.
My work has evolved in three stages each shaping the way I work today. First came over ten years restoring antique furniture, then I moved on to Scandinavian mid-century pieces, and for the past eight years I’ve been focusing on creating custom-made furniture.
I got my start in restoration at a young age, spending weekends at my father’s workshop learning to refurbish old furniture, windows, and doors. So it felt natural to study restoration after finishing school, where I also learned more about woodworking.
Working with antique furniture taught me to truly value quality craftsmanship. With the right materials and techniques, well-made furniture can last for hundreds of years. That mindset still guides my work today - I believe furniture should last longer than just five or ten years, both in durability and in appearance.
Next I turned to Scandinavian furniture from the 1950s, 60s, & 70s, giving these pieces a new life. By then, woodworking techniques had advanced, and furniture design was closer to what we recognize today. Woodworking had changed a lot by then, and I learned modern techniques while gaining a real appreciation for Scandinavian design and quality. That’s also when I first started imagining creating my own well-designed furniture.
I soon realized restoration wasn’t where I wanted to stay. In 2015, I shifted to creating custom furniture. The beginning was challenging, but I found my first clients, and now, eight years on, I’ve completed a wide range of projects, from hand-cut joinery to melamine bathroom furniture. I’ve worked with almost everything that can be made from wood.
All this experience has given me a solid technical foundation - understanding how to build different types of furniture, which materials to use, and the best finishes for each piece.
Today I focus on creating custom furniturewith a clear personal signature. I also aim to design and produce my own line of ready-made furniture as a series.
